Who the heck are we
The name von Flüe holds deep meaning for our organization. It is not just a name – it is a legacy. We chose to honor our ancestor, Niklaus von Flüe, because his life was a testament to the very values we strive to uphold in our work: strength, compassion, integrity, and service to others.
Niklaus von Flüe, a 15th-century Swiss mystic, peacemaker, and hermit, is remembered for his unwavering moral compass and spiritual wisdom. Despite living in a time of great conflict, he became a symbol of peace and unity, often called upon to mediate and resolve disputes. His guidance helped preserve harmony in his homeland, and his quiet but powerful presence inspired those around him to lead lives rooted in ethics and selflessness.
These same principles guide our mission today.
In a world that often feels divided or indifferent, we look to Niklaus as a symbol of courage and clarity. He reminds us that strength is not always loud or forceful – it can be humble, steady, and driven by a deep sense of purpose. Just as he withdrew from worldly power to serve a higher good, we too dedicate ourselves to a cause greater than ourselves: helping people and animals, supporting communities, and acting with heart.
By naming our NGO von Flüe, we honor the spirit of a man who chose a path of service, even when it meant sacrifice. We are proud to carry his name forward into the future, as a reminder of the roots we come from and the ideals we hold sacred.
